UAE PM urges Dubai Police to innovate and uphold excellence standards
Dubai has launched a significant Dh2 billion initiative encompassing a series of groundbreaking police projects aimed at bolstering security, enhancing crime prevention, and promoting community well-being.
One of the key highlights is the world’s first floating ‘Smart Police Station’ at The World Islands, set to operate 24/7 without human intervention.
The announcement came during a recent visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf.
He was joined by senior Dubai leaders, including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE; Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; and Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council.
Upon arrival, Sheikh Mohammed and his delegation were welcomed by Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and other high-ranking officers.
During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed praised Dubai Police for its steadfast commitment to safeguarding the safety and well-being of Dubai’s citizens, residents, and visitors. He commended the police force for leveraging advanced technologies to establish Dubai as one of the safest cities globally.
“Dubai’s police force continues to set new benchmarks, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors,” Sheikh Mohammed stated.
New Dh1b Dubai Police Academy
One of the major projects Sheikh Mohammed reviewed was the new Dh1 billion Dubai Police Academy in the Al Ruwayyah 1 area, designed to train the next generation of law enforcement officers. Covering an expansive 155 hectares, this facility will provide training resources and accommodations for 2,500 cadets and students.
The project consists of four primary zones. The first zone will serve as a residential area, offering accommodation for 1,200 male and female cadets with lounges, a daily training field, and necessary facilities.
The second zone will house classrooms, academic departments, lecture halls, administrative offices, a music building, a health centre, and a 1,000-seat theatre.
The third zone will feature an extensive sports complex with 17 facilities, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a football field with spectator seating, and courts for various sports. Additionally, it will include a 26-room hotel to host sports teams.
The fourth zone is a large training complex with a 2,500-spectator main field.
Expected to be completed by 2027, the Al Ruwayyah Police Academy project will also include a 3.5-kilometre cycling and running track.
Training Centre in Hatta
Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed on a second major project, a new training centre at the Dubai Police Academy in Hatta, set to open next year. The Hatta facility will offer a sports complex, shooting range, sports field, and training areas to accommodate 180 male and female students.
The centre will also feature classrooms, administrative offices, a main training field with 300-seat visitor capacity, and residential quarters for students.
Dh300m ‘Area 56’
Another essential addition is ‘Area 56’, a Dh300 million state-of-the-art facility for crime prevention and data analysis.
‘Area 56’ will act as a ‘Unified Centre for Crime Prevention Systems and Data Analysis’, utilising advanced data science and AI to predict and prevent crime. This high-tech centre will play a vital role in traffic safety, counter-narcotics, and predictive policing, enhancing Dubai Police’s ability to respond to security challenges.
The Area 56 project is expected to bolster Dubai Police’s strategic digital integration and further develop Dubai’s reputation for security innovation and AI-driven solutions.
Dubai Police Housing initiative
During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the Dubai Police Housing project in Umm Al Daman, valued at Dh300 million.
Currently in its second phase and slated for completion by 2026, the project will deliver six buildings and 246 residential apartments. The housing project aims to support police officers and their families, with additional amenities such as sports complexes, children’s playgrounds, cafes, retail outlets, a swimming pool, and sports fields.
The initiative focuses on providing stable, family-oriented living environments for police officers, fostering a sense of community well-being.
New Emergency Building
Sheikh Mohammed also assessed the Dh300 million new facility for the General Department of Organisation Protective Security and Emergency.
This project, scheduled to become operational in 2026, will serve as a comprehensive hub for Dubai Police’s emergency response capabilities, featuring training grounds, a 300-seat lecture hall, residential quarters, social and sports centres, and parking facilities for 400 police and specialised vehicles.
Expansion of Bur Dubai Police Station
Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the plans for the expansion of Bur Dubai Police Station, a project with a budget of AED90.9 million. This expansion will add a Smart Police Station (SPS) along with dedicated sections for essential services, including duty, investigation, traffic and criminal registration, administrative affairs, anti-narcotics enforcement, detention, and a call center.
The modernised station aims to enhance service delivery and the station’s capability to address diverse policing requirements.
Forensic Medicine Building
Another project reviewed by Sheikh Mohammed was the Forensic Medicine Building, designed to incorporate cutting-edge capabilities in forensic science.
The building will include a virtual anatomy lab, forensic anthropology, forensic dentistry, a biobank, and an advanced data analysis facility for medical research.
The facility will be equipped with a mortuary, visitor parking, and an office for managing services for the deceased.
Operating 24/7, this new facility will support the forensic and investigative work of Dubai Police, ensuring rapid and accurate response in cases requiring medical evidence.
World’s First Floating ‘Smart Police Station’
A unique highlight of the new projects is the Floating Smart Police Station at The World Islands, an entirely autonomous, 24/7 service facility that operates without human intervention.
Designed to cater to yacht and boat enthusiasts as well as water sports enthusiasts, the floating police station will provide essential services to those in Dubai’s waters.
This station marks a new era in innovative, autonomous law enforcement services, demonstrating Dubai’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology for community service.
